How to read a lake level
- Elevation, not depth. Levels are feet above sea level at the dam's gauge — compare them with full pool, not with zero.
- Full pool is the level the operator aims to hold. Below it in late summer and winter is normal; far above it means flood storage.
- Normal for the date is the middle of the last ten years on that day — the fairest answer to “is the lake low?”
